*Child must have received Sacrament of Baptism
*Child must have received Sacrament of Eucharist
*Child must be in 6th grade or older
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is a 3 step process:
Step 1: 1st year of confirmation:
Preparation of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
*Some students who need Sacrament of Eucharist will also prepare in this step for that Sacrament.
Step 2: 2nd year of confirmation:
Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation continues.
Step 3: Meditation Year:
Students attend on Thursdays. Here they will learn how to help during mass, provide service to the community, attend a retreat and participate in various activities. In this final step, students decide if they feel ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation or if they need more preparation time.
How will my child be prepared to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation?
Students preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation will take part in a formation process that helps them grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with God. A key part of this preparation will be regular attendance at Mass, where students will participate fully in the liturgy, listen to God’s Word, and be nourished by the Eucharist. By being active in the life of the parish community, they will experience firsthand what it means to live as a disciple of Christ.
In addition, students will learn the basics of the Bible, gaining a deeper understanding of Scripture and how God has revealed Himself throughout salvation history. This foundation will help them recognize how the teachings of the Church are rooted in the Word of God and how Scripture continues to guide their lives today.
To support this learning, students will also engage with the Chosen program by Ascension Press. Through engaging video lessons, they will explore topics such as the meaning of Confirmation, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the call to live out their Catholic faith in daily life. These lessons are designed to be both informative and inspiring, helping students connect what they learn with their own personal experiences.
Altogether, this preparation—participating in Mass, studying Scripture, and engaging with the Chosen program—will guide students to a deeper faith, a clearer understanding of the sacrament, and a readiness to receive the grace of Confirmation as they commit to living as mature members of the Catholic Church.
